Western North Carolina — Asheville, Boone, Hendersonville, and the high country — may be smaller in population than the Triangle or Charlotte, but the Irish community is active and welcoming, especially around tourism seasons and university towns.
Look for trad sessions in Asheville-area pubs, pipe bands at regional parades, and dance schools serving families across the mountains.
